JROTC offers ASVAB testing for military prospects

On September 12, the JROTC offered Harrison students the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB is a career exploration test aimed to determine if one is fit for service and in what career he or she would be best suited.

The test, running around 3-4 hours in length, is used by all four branches of the military.

Eighteen students took the ASVAB, and one senior, Nicky Munoz commented, “It was shorter than I thought. The English, math, and science sections weren’t difficult. The rest was challenging.” Nicky added that she hopes to join the military so they will write her a tuition check for college.

The fee for the test is sponsored by the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). Another opportunity for Harrison students to take advantage of the testing opportunity will be available in the spring.
