Shawn Bower, an Auto Service Technology Instructor at HHS, offers life skills to students and free automotive work for staff. He teaches as part of the Concurrent Enrollment program through PPCC and has mastered his ASE certification. His classes and the autoshop are both located in the Tech Center outside the 500 wing. Bower uses the shop daily to teach students how to perform routine maintenance on vehicles and help them gain experience with tools while learning about car technology. Being able to work in a skills based industry while teaching students permanent life skills inspires Mr. Bower. “I have always enjoyed teaching; I’ve wanted to do it since 5th grade. I took this job to help students make a better life for themselves,” Bower says.
